Key Information

- With the exception of July and December meetings will be held on the last Monday of each month at 1900hrs in Mearns Community Campus, Laurencekirk.
- There will be no meetings in July or December.
- To help with meeting management, requests to speak must be submitted, in writing via this website 7 days before the meeting advising on the issue you wish to have discussed.
- Mearns Community Council lies within the Ward 19 area of Aberdeenshire Council.
- It serves the settlements of Auchenblae, Fettercairn, Edzell Woods, Fordoun, Drumlithie & Glenbervie; Laurencekirk (including Garvock); Luthermuir Marykirk and West Cairnbeg.
- Mearns Community Council is a democratic body where decisions are taken by a majority vote. The chairman will have a casting vote in any tied result.
- The Community Council is a statutory consultee on some Council consultations.
- Community Councils are non political.
- Mearns Community Council works on the principle that members seek to represent the best interests of the communities they serve.
- In periods between meetings where an urgent issue arises members have agreed to vote by email. There will have to be a response from a majority of members before any action taken.
